Podcast Vibes Are Happening

HR What, an Inspired Visions brand, is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and others. This post may contain affiliate links. We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post. This is what keeps my blog in motion!

After having this HR blogging website for a couple of years, I have had many different ideas, structure changes and of course new revelations about it! For about a year or so, I have been joking about starting a podcast. Seriously, the podcast vibes are happening and they are strong at times and other times very dull. I want to share with you my most recent voice cast regarding my request for podcast idea help. But beforehand, let me briefly tell you the trials and tribulations of my site to give you some background.

At First

I started this venture as a way to release energy, tell the whole HR story, and remain sane. Wouldn’t others find it interesting to learn what happens behind the scenes? What really goes on in the headspace of an HR professional? My first two posts were definitely human resources related. They definitely have a podcast potential!

Then…

I went on a cruise and the next 6 posts were a day-by-day synopsis to show how stress-relieving it was for me. This is how my blog posts began taking the form of a more lifestyle approach. A fantastic adventure, but not really an HR story. However, now that I think about it, I could refer to scenarios on the cruise that would be an HR nightmare! Oh, perhaps a great podcast topic? Soon I will be embarking on cruise number five…hmmm ideas!!

And so it continued…

My site spiraled into many different aspects, which in my opinion all relate to my human resources lifestyle. I recently added a page titled My Coloring Expressions sharing my colored art interpretations. Tuesday Tells and Tattles is how I share my favorite quotes that are serious, funny and HR related. Finally, I started a YouTube and Soundcloud channel so people can get to know Judean from HRWhat! My podcast aspirations became more vibrant.

So Why the Podcast Vibes?

Maybe talking about things and bantering back and forth is better for me. I thought writing would be easy and for the most part, it is. But for me, talking is so much easier and podcasts are all the rage right now! You can spiral around the main topics and infuse personality as well. I am wondering what others would like to know about what happens behind the scenes in HR.

Please listen and let me know what you think! It is just under 5 minutes and I always try to infuse some type of funny into it. I was walking on a treadmill at the time because you have to exercise at some point!

Requesting Podcast Thoughts & Ideas!

I’ve come to the realization that to be successful, you have to be liked. And, to be liked, you have to be funny, have great content, and appeal to a wide variety of people. So, while my writings have not really been geared towards behind the scenes stories of HR situations, they have been more focused on my lifestyle as an HR professional. I want to continue keeping an HR focus because it has been my entire career. However, my personality and different way of approaching HR have gained me some lifelong friends, adding some realness to those workplace situations based on my experiences.

I hope to bring funny, witty, honest, and professional conversations through the podcast with all different types of guests to bring the human back in human resources. I am not shy and tell it like it is. Refreshing for some, cringeworthy for others! At the end of the day, it’s about building relationships, remaining neutral, getting things done and staying sane!

all the best…*judean*

  1. Podcasts are a great way to grow a blog/website, I love listening! Thanks so much for sharing 🙂

  2. I love videos myself, but I know podcasts are so popular right now. I would love to hear funny HR stories. Also, I would think tips on from an HR person on various things you have knowledge about would come in handy for most people. I think throwing personal things in there and maybe some of your cruises will make it more well rounded and allow people to connect to you.

    1. Thank you Noelle! Some podcasts actually do video as well – that could be a once/month thought to ‘broadcast’ it on YouTube with video instead of voice. I am taking note of everything and appreciate your insight very much!

  3. I like the idea of the podcast – honestly, I like listening vs watching (think my eyes need the break!) Good luck – can’t wait to hear more!

  4. So excited for you!! I think a good podcast sometimes does better than a blog!! I have tried to find podcasts for caregiving and multigenerational living,,,not a lot out there hope you find a good niche for you!

  5. I’m more of a video person. Podcasts are good for those scenarios when you can’t watch as well.

  7. Good luck with your podcast. I think this will be very valuable to those who are looking for HR help. I have struggled with HR issues in the past as a people manager. There is a lot that people do not talk about in the workplace.
